MBA is an essential qualification for students aspiring for professional careers in business management. The course is designed to develop insights into the operations of a business entity, to understand the functions and mechanisms through which a business organization works and most importantly, the manner in which decisions are arrived at different levels of the organization so that they are in sync with the overall poise of the organization. MBA is a multi-disciplinary course which borrows from various dimensions of business studies. For example, in the Finance Stream, subjects such as Corporate Finance, Working Capital Management, Securities Analysis and Portfolio Management, Investments, Merchant Banking and Financial Services, International Finance etc. are taught. A mix of essential subjects are studied in the first two semesters, after which the specialization subjects are taken up. The MBA program is of two years comprising 4 semesters, from 1 through 4 in sequential progression. Each year, the Odd Semester ranges from July to December and the Even Semester, from January to June.
Graduation in any discipline from a recognized University or Institution with minimum 50% marks or equivalent grade (45% in case of SC/ST).
MBA being the key qualification for business careers, students are offered the facility of dual specialization i.e. of undertaking specialization level studies in two major streams mentioned earlier. The idea is to provide a choice to the student, based on his/her personal strengths and inclinations, and at the same time, broaden his/her opportunities of employment in the industry. Specialization subjects are taught in the 3rd and 4th semesters after students completes their industry internship and gather clarity over their choice of specialization streams.
